Lumen occultation__ 20161006

Discussion:

The ellipse above is plotted at the expected diameters of Lumen. The ellipse has been plotted to fit the observed chords.

The event appears to have been very close to the predicted path.

The figures below show the Tangra light curve of the occultation.

Comments: Recorded with a 120mm maxi & OCC3 miniPC & IOTA timer software in forest near Voltz Rd, n. of Hwy 85. Lumen was mag. 13.2 and the star mag. 10.8.
Remote Station 3, distance about 25 km south of the predicted northern limit.
Stations 1 and 2 were on paver mounts at homes in Shelton and Brighton, Qld. prepointed night before, but due to poor instruction, the operator didn't record the occultation.
Star is n. comp., double., 9" sep., not resolved, so dmag 0.59. _______________________________ Observer David and Joan Dunham Location Beerwah, Qld., AU Longitude +153:01 Latitude -26:51 Altitude 8 m Datum WGS84 Telescope Dobsonian Aperture 25 cm Seeing Steady Clear Camera Type PC164C-EX NTSC/EIA Camera Delay Timing GPS - time inserted Video, photo or photoelectric Missed Comments: Recorded with a 10in. Suitcase scope & OCC4 miniPC & IOTA timer just s. of M1-Bells Creek Rd. interchange. Lumen was mag. 13.2 and the star mag. 10.8.
Remote prepointed Station 4, distance about 1 km south of the predicted northern limit. _______________________________ Observer David and Joan Dunham Location Woombye, Qld., AU Longitude +152:59 Latitude -26:40 Altitude 24 m Datum WGS84 Telescope Refractor Aperture 8 cm Seeing Steady Clear Camera Type Watec 120N+ NTSC/EIA Camera Delay Timing GPS - time inserted Video, photo or photoelectric Missed Comments: Recorded with a "midi" system & Vaio Laptop PC & IOTA timer in Big Pineapple car park s. of Nambour Connection Rd & w. of M-1.
Attended prepointed Station 5, distance about 25 km north of the predicted northern limit, in the 1-sigma zone.
Target was northern component of approx. equal-mag. pair separated by 9" not resolved, so actual mag. drop about 0.7, but none observed. _______________________________ Observer John Newman Location Flynn, ACT, AU Longitude +149:02 Latitude -35:11 Altitude 657 m Datum WGS84 Telescope SCT including Cass and Mak Aperture 40 cm Seeing Strong flickering Clear Camera Type Watec 910BD PAL/CCIR Camera Delay Timing GPS - time inserted Video with frame analysis Missed Comments: Report prepopulated by IOTA Reporting Add-in for OW ver.1.8 _______________________________ Observer John Broughton Location Reedy Creek, QLD, AU Longitude +153:23 Latitude -28:06 Altitude 62 m Datum WGS84 Telescope Newtonian Aperture 25 cm Seeing Steady Clear Camera Type Watec 120N+ PAL/CCIR Camera Delay Timing GPS - other linking Video with frame analysis Disappearance 12:02:03.91 Reappearance 12:02:07.43 Comments: _______________________________ Observer John Broughton Location Chinderah, NSW, AU Longitude +153:33 Latitude -28:15 Altitude 6 m Datum WGS84 Telescope Newtonian Aperture 8 cm Seeing Steady Clear Camera Type LN-300-11673 PAL/CCIR Camera Delay Timing GPS - other linking Video with frame analysis Missed Comments: _______________________________ Observer John Broughton Location Brunswick Heads, NSW, AU Longitude +153:32 Latitude -28:32 Altitude 6 m Datum WGS84 Telescope Newtonian Aperture 25 cm Seeing Steady Clear Camera Type LN-300-11673 PAL/CCIR Camera Delay Timing GPS - other linking Video with frame analysis Missed Comments:
