A 2.7 second occultation was recorded by Dave Gault from the Blue Mountain. In addition, there would appear to be a single video frame 'blink event' some 3.7 seconds after the reappearance. No other observations were reported.

Discussion:
The circle above is plotted at the expected 72 km diameter of (429) Lotis. With only one chord it is not possible to determine whether Dave was north or south of the central line of the event. The circle has been plotted on the observed chord. As can be seen from the outline above, it is difficult to reconcile the 'blink' event with a limb grazing occultation on (429) Lotis - the time difference between the end of the main occultation and the blink is close to the maximum possible occultation duration and would require (429) Lotis to be very elongated or much larger than expected. The alternative explanations are that the event is spurious artifact of seeing or that (429) Lotis is a binary object or has a satellite.
