Discussion:
The ellipse above is plotted at the size to just fit the observation on the major axis and the minor axis is set to give the area as the expected circle of 70 km. This give an axis ratio of 1.41 compared to an estimate of 1.2 suggested by light curve data. With only one chord it is not possible to determine whether Brian was north or south of the central line of the event. However, assuming the updated prediction was approximately correct the longer than expected chord of about 83 km would suggest that the chord might lie close to the central portion of the asteroid.
