This prediction update has been computed by Steve Preston of the Medina, Washington (state) in the United States based on astrometry from Ron Stone of the US Naval Observatory - Flagstaff Station supplemented with data from the AstDys database. The UCAC 1 position of the target star has been used.
Summary:
This updated path lies around 4 path widths to the east and around 40 seconds earlier than the Occult prediction. The path crosses the Kimberley coastline just to the east of Derby at 20:51:20 UT before running south across Western Australia. The path emerges from the southern coastline to the east of Balladonia around 20:54:30 UT.
Observers should note that the target star is the northern of two magnitude 9.8 stars just under one minute of arc apart.

Observers must bear in mind that later astrometry, in which the target star is measured in the same field as the asteroid, may still reveal substantial changes to the predicted track and time of the event.
