GRAZING OCCULTATION OF 6 MAY 1998:
SIGMA LEONIS
This graze was observed by members of the Wellington and Wairarapa Astronomical Societies at Carterton, New Zealand. The star was very bright at magnitude 4.1, but quite thick high cloud on the night prevented all but larger aperture telescopes from finding the star. However the observations obtained were enough to show that the actual profile differed from the predicted profile by about 400 metres on the ground.
The plot was drawn by Ursula Macfarlane.
